Vegas Baby, VEGAS!!
Well I’m off to Vegas shortly for the Westside Volleyball tournament this weekend. It’ll be nice to take the 2 days off around this weekend (fri and monday). Things have been utterly crazy for me over the last few months so I can’t wait for this nice change of scenary. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to write more about this trip while I’m on the road…

If you're near a volcano..
If you’re ever near a Volcano next time, perhaps you’ll consider cooking a Game Hen or a Pork Loin using hot lava from that Volcano. Need the recipe? Check out this link.

Hilarious Slashdot
Thanks to Manuel for showing me this posting at Slashdot. omg - it’s so funny - especially if you understand the lingo that is spoken within the IRC chat session. Check it out. For those that don’t know what 127.0.0.1 is - it’s the IP address that is always assigned to your computer. Soo.. if you ever run across a hacker like this guy in the posting, pass them that IP addr and...

SeaCode
I thought I’ve seen it all but apparently I haven’t. Check out this site - (http://www.sea-code.com/). It’s software outsourcing on a cruise ship parked 3.1 miles off the coast of LA. They’re far enough away to not be in US waters thus they aren’t subject to US tax laws - the 600+ programmers make more money than they would in India or China but they are still cheaper...

My First Angels Game
Let’s make this clear - I’m a New York Mets fan all the way. ok having said that, I went to my first Angels game on thursday night and it was loads of fun. The Angels were playing the Cleveland Indians and they ended up winning 6-5 in extra innings. Cleveland jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the end of the 2nd but the Angels chipped away throughout the game and then tied it up in the...

Updates over at Ron Moore's Blog
Just wanted to let people know that Ron Moore has updated his blog over here. Looks like season two is well under way now with their opening episodes nearly done. If you’re a fan of BSG, then you should definitely take some time out to read Mr. Moore’s blogs. Not only does he have updates to what’s going on in the BSG world, he takes time out to answer people’s questions....

In a Mirror, Darkly
Phew - I totally forgot that the remaining new episodes of Star Trek Enterprise were starting up again this week. Thus, I was pleasantly surprised to see “In a Mirror, Darkly” recorded on my MCE when I got home from volleyball friday night (especially since there weren’t any new episodes of Battlestar Galactica until July). “In a Mirror, Darkly” is...

E-Mails hurt IQ more than pot
Now here’s an interesting study - a British study of 1100 Britons have found that people distracted by the ever growing flow of information and interruptions from emails and text messages suffer a greater loss of IQ than a person smoking marijuana. Ah this is the perfect study to show to people who constantly email me or bug me on IM. STOP IT! YOU’RE MAKING ME DUMBER! [Check it out]

Star Wars Revelations
If you’re a Star Wars junkie, check out the fan film - Star Wars:Revelations. A couple took over 2 years and $20,000 in money to create this film and I must say, it’s not too shabby! As I mentioned over at Krunker, I bet it’s better than whatever Lucas has cooked up for Episode 3.. even though everyone on the internet seems to know what the storyline for episode 3 will be. ...

Cornell Class of 1996 10 Year Reunion
I just noticed that the 10 year reunion date for the Cornell class of 1996 has been set. It’s going to be held from June 8th till June 11th, 2006. It’s a little over a year away now but mark your calendars if you’re going to go. I went to the five year reunion and had a blast so I think I’ll consider going to the 10 year reunion too. Happy Tax Day!
Happy Tax Day everyone. I know you love this day.. I certainly do. It’s the day where I can curse at how much I COULD have made if there were no taxes. Of course.. if there were no taxes, I wouldn’t have many of the things I take for granted today (no sarcastic remarks about our gov’t please..) And let’s face it.. 40% of our taxes pay the needs of our aging population and...

Lick 'n Crunch
Come on now.. admit it - you’ve always wanted to sample some of those tasty looking treats that you give to your dog. Ok.. maybe not all of you but I certainly have been curious in my past. Well there’s a new brand of dog treats out that are good for both humans and dogs - it’s not “pet food” but “food for pets” mind you! These treats are apparently made...

Brain dead from sports drinks
Here’s an interesting article over at the NYTimes. A study has come out declaring that drinking too much in liquids during excessive physical activity can actually kill you. The reason? Water dilutes blood and can lower the concentration of sodium in your body. Water then enters cells and can cause them to swell - enlarged brain cells can press up against your skull causing confusion,...

Wis. Governer Rejects Cat-Hunting Idea
Alright.. I’ll be the first to say that I’m not a fan of cats… but legalizing the killing of feral cats? What the heck?!?!? What are people thinking of? There’s got to be other things that people could be spending their time with right? Well it’s a good thing that the Governer of Wisconsin is going to make sure any legislation legalizing this in WI will not pass. I...

Daredevil Behavior Holds No Sway with the Ladies
Now this was a study that I’ve been looking for all of my life… “Daredevil men who believe they can attract women with their reckless behavior, should think again.” A survey of 100 men and women at the University of Maine in Orono showed that women are not impressed by daredevil antics by men. Apparently these women prefer men who take fewer chances… Ok.. now that I...

Battlestar Galactica - a Soap Opera?
I was sitting down at volleyball last night talking to a friend of mine and he mentioned that he considered BattleStar Galactica a Soap Opera. That made me think about things for a bit.. a soap opera? is that really true? In many ways, BSG is indeed a soap opera in space with all the focus on the different relationships that people have with each other - either in the fleet, on Caprica, with...

How to turn on a flashlight - the hard way
There’s a contest for anything these days.. Students from Purdue University won the 18th annual Rube Goldberg Machine Contest. Their winning entry? A machine that took 125 steps to remove two batteries from a flashlight, replace them, and then subsequently turn on the flashlight. Go figure! [Check it out]

A week in hell...
Ok so maybe it wasn’t quite like hell last week but it was definitely a week that royally blew. Everything that could go wrong went wrong for me at work. It was just one of those weeks that I wish would just end…. but it only got worse until the weekend finally came around the corner. What really topped things off was the near disaster with my laptop on Thursday morning. I made some...

One of those days..
Today was one of those days where nothing seemed to go right. The development source code that we were working on just would not cooperate. On top of that, all sorts of issues popped up at work which I feel completely at fault for. These are the days when I have to remember that everyday is a learning experience.. that I have to take all of these tough moments in life and figure out how I can...

Battlestar Galactica Season Finale..
The season finale of Battlestar Galactica (BSG) was just awesome. I could have downloaded and watched all the episodes of the first season of BSG but I’m very glad that I didn’t. I won’t reveal what happens at the end of this episode (which is a real shocker for me) but I will comment on this series a bit. One of the major reasons BSG is so successful is because of Ronald D....

Yet another game
If you need a break at work - check out this game called Pig Blast. The goal is to keep the pig in flight for as long as possible. How do you keep a pig in flight you might ask? Well through farting of course. Just make sure to avoid the birds flying at you. Sick… Make sure to listen to the sound effects (although not if your boss is around) [Check it out]
